Priority 3 Fiscal Accountability

Keeping the Public informed on how their tax dollars are spent. Too many times, the City has made decision on spending your tax dollars while confusing you with complicated words and small print. Transparent spending should not be difficult to understand. This can be fixed by informing the public of key concerns that they need to be aware of. “The SMALL PRINT” matters and being transparent and upfront is the solution.

Tax measures are in place to improve our city.  The downfall is that some tax measures feed money directly into the General Fund.  The problem here is that money is easily diverted to other expenses.  The General Funds should not be seen as an overhead expense account for unforeseen expenses.  We must establish Tax measures transparently with the utmost integrity.  No hidden spikes or improperly articulated annual increases over time.  The Taxpayers of Antioch value how their taxes are spent and so should the City.
